The development of the School of Insurance resulted from research on the problems of insurance education carried on by the faculty and a group of public-spirited, experienced insurance professionals known as the insurance advisory committee.
The school's purpose was to provide for men and women a practical 4-year resident course of evening training under the instruction of successful insurance executives, technical experts, accountants, and attorneys.
The school offered courses on technical training and casualty, surety, fire, and marine insurance. The curriculum was expanded to a four-year evening course, one of the most complete in the country.
