Golden Gate University is a unique educational institution in the San Francisco Bay Area with origins in the YMCA evening school which was designed to provide educational opportunities to working adults in 19th century. The evening school transformed into a separate educational institution in 1901.
The University Archives is managed by the library which continues to collect, organize, and make available valuable print and digital materials which preserve the history, research, scholarship, and ephemera of Golden Gate University.
Access to physical materials in the Archives is not generally available the public, but appointments can be made by those affiliated with the university to view items of interest. Digital materials are readily viewable by anyone viewing the current page.
