Federal Research: Congressional Research Service Reports

Overview

"The Congressional Research Service (CRS), in the Library of Congress, is a non-partisan public policy research arm of the United States Congress established in 1914 (38 Stat. 1005 and 60 Stat. 836; now codified at 2 U.S.C. 166).  The agency serves Congress exclusively and provides members and committees with reference and research services as well as in-depth analysis of legislative issues.  CRS produces or updates some 3,000 studies and other publications annually.  CRS does not distribute its reports to the public, nor does it make them available on the Internet."  (Law Librarian's Society of Washington DC, Inc.)

Our Law Library has Major Reports of the CRS from 1916 on microfilm.  We have links to selected CRS reports online that can be searched here.  Westlaw also provides access to some CRS reports in the FTX-CRS database.
