Basics of using the law library to meet the needs of our LLM and SJD students.

Searching the Catalog

It is easy to search our Online Public Access Catalog, or OPAC. Simply to go library.ggu.edu and start your search.  We offer a separate LibGuide on how to Navigate the Law Library wich includes detailed instruction on how to use the OPAC.

Finding Print Materials in the Law Library

Law Library materials are housed on two floors:

  • Plaza Level, one floor down:
    • California cases, codes, practice guides.
    • Current periodicals
    • Course Reserve and Closed Reserve - These materials are behind the circulation desk and may be checked out for two hours.
    • Reference - This collection by the reference desk includes dictionaries, directories and multi-state surveys, and Bluebooks.
    • Open Reserve - Heavily used research materials and practice guides in the most current edition, for both federal and California jurisdictions, as well as a few international practice materials.
  • Basement Level, two floors down:
    • Bound periodicals
    • Law & Literature collection
    • Research collection for all legal subjects
    • Tax collection
    • Microforms collection
    • California Archive - state legislative material and archived law practice material.

 

Interlibrary Loan Form

Materials that are not in our law library may be requested through interlibrary loan using the online request form.
