What are Study Guides?

Study guides are books that cover the basics of your first-year courses.  They are designed to supplement your class material and required texts.  Most of our study guides are located in the closed reserve section of the law library, behind the circulation desk.  They can be checked out for two hours at a time.  Some older editions are in the stacks. We also have Study Guides for more advanced courses, such as bankruptcy, legal ethics, and bar review.

The most popular guide series are Emanuel law outlines (Wolters Kluwer), Questions & Answers (was LexisNexis, now published by Carolina Academic Press), Gilbert Law Summaries (West), Examples & Explanations (Wolters Kluwer), the Siegel's series (Wolters Kluwer), and the Understanding series (was LexisNexis, now published by Carolina Academic Press).

Also useful are the ...in a Nutshell series (West Academic).  Click on the link to browse the Nutshell titles in the law library.
